The Commander places the sword in his hand (Says)

The Commander gives him the Spurs, and says
Receive the spurs as an aid for salvation so that you may freely and effectively walk upon this holy city, travel through it, and keep guard over the most holy sepulchre.
The Commander kisses the spurs.

The Commander takes and gives the sword back to his hand
Says.
Receive the sword in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and use it for the defense of the holy Church and the confusion of the enemies of the cross of Christ and beware that you do not unjustly harm anyone with it, which may he himself deign to grant who lives, etc., amen.

He puts the Sword back in the scabbard
Gird your sword upon your thigh, most powerful in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and attend that the Saints did not win kingdoms by the sword but by faith.
