Mosheim, Johann Lorenz von · 1746-1748

A printer's mark or emblem features a lion holding a caduceus, the staff of Hermes, while resting its paw on an open book. The book displays a stylized lily. Above the lion is a banner with the motto: "Out of the strong came forth sweetness" original Latin: "EX FORTI DULCEDO". Decorative scrolling foliage surrounds the scene. The engraving is signed in the bottom right: "Schöneman sc.".
