This image is an intricate alchemical emblem known as the VITRIOL diagram, associated with the legendary alchemist Basil Valentine. At the center is a bearded human face representing the alchemist or the Sun, set within a circle. This center is surrounded by a seven-pointed star. Each point of the star is numbered 1 through 7 and contains a planetary symbol and a circular scene depicting different stages of the alchemical Great Work: 1. Moon, 2. Jupiter, 3. Mars, 4. Sun, 5. Venus, 6. Mercury, 7. Saturn.
