I had postponed until the moment of the publication of that Work what I had to say about Magnétisme animal Animal Magnetism. I thought that one subject would serve as support and perhaps as an excuse for the other; but the delays I necessarily experience force me to separate these two objects. What you are about to read is therefore only a detached piece of a larger Work. It was nearly half of the Preface. I am only transcribing it here, adding the preceding reflections, and allowing myself to give my ideas an extension that would have been unsustainable for a Preface.
