pure water. Mix this solution into four pounds of powdered Tripoli a porous, siliceous earth used as a base for distillation. From this, drive off the spirit of salt hydrochloric acid according to the manner of the artists. These will already be yellow, having a pleasant smell and being very sour. This common spirit of salt is treated in the repetition original: "repetitio" on folio 112 and is driven out according to the final manual processes of Basilius Basil Valentine.
Take one pound of crystal-clear, purified saltpeter potassium nitrate. Powder it and imbibe soak or saturate it with the dissolved salt water. Mix it with four pounds of yellow dry Tripoli. Drive it off with bare fire, as one usually makes spirit of nitre nitric acid. It is important to know that after each distillation, the salt is washed out of the Tripoli with hot water. Once the Tripoli is well dried, it is just as good to use as before.
An attractive water original: "aqua attractiva" is made in this way.
Take one pound of the pleasant-smelling, sour spirit of salt, and one pound of the rectified purified spirit of wine, and one pound of the best
