It matters little whether these predictions belong to Anselm or to another. If we prefer to assert that they were seen prophetically, any man was suitable for them. In this matter, the sanctity of the person who was permitted to divine them is not necessarily relevant. If, however, we contend they were understood through another way of knowing, it must not be denied that they are excellent and proceeded from a singular talent. I have studiously omitted adding any elaborate commentary on them, since they may be read with excellent explanations by others.
The slaughter: the sons of Balael Belial will follow.
The tithes will be dissipated in the spilling of blood.
Penitence will follow the tracks of Simon Magus.
Confusion and error will be tainted.
Exaltation of poverty: obedience, chastity, the destruction of unbridled gluttony, and of the Hypocrites.
The cut: Hypocrisy will be in abomination.
The slaughter: the sons of Balael Belial will follow.

Whether these Predictions belong to Anselm or others, it matters little. If we judge them to be Prophecies, anyone could have received them, since sanctity is not required as a necessary personal trait in those to whom things are revealed. And if we receive them as having been spoken in another manner, it cannot be denied that they should be considered beautiful and made by a person of more than moderately sharp intellect. I have also refrained from laboring over them, as perhaps they will be explained by someone else with better sense and understanding.
