It is a great honor for those studies to have had the minds of Exalted men as their cultivators. What Hero is more famous for learning, even this learning which opens the hidden things of nature, which searches out chemical riches and the Master Stone the Philosopher's Stone? While I offer this stone described in these Testamentary pages to the offspring of nourishing wisdom—for what is more precious to a Philosopher?—under what better protection could I publish it than yours? Your virtue, Illustrious Count, well known to the sons of Apollo physicians and poets, claims this right for itself by merit, as does your rare knowledge. Therefore, receive with clemency what is owed to these titles; receive it, and defend it with the shield of your illustrious Favor, O Noble Count, who shall be remembered by my Camenae Muses as long as Apollo the god of music and art moves the mind and his plectrum moves the strings!
