This Fermentation, therefore, is done in such a manner:
Let a very thin plate be made of gold purified in the highest degree.
Let Vulcan the god of fire, representing alchemical heat join this plate gently with the Stone in one bridal chamber.
Afterward, with the fire increased stronger, let him compel them to continue their union for three nights and as many melting days.
Thus Gold, adorned with spiritual gifts and a subtle vigor, penetrates all impure metals that it encounters.
