...impotence, except for a small little house that was rescued from all nations. As it was before the Sündfluth Great Flood, and before the rising of the noble tree in and through nature, so it was also at that time.
65. But that humans at the end lusted so strongly for the root of the tree is a Mysterium divine secret or mystery. It has been hidden from the clever and wise until now. It will not rise in the heights but in the depths in great simplicity. Just as the noble tree with its kernel and heart has always been hidden from the worldly-wise, even though they thought they stood on the root and top of the tree, it was nothing more than a bright vapor before their eyes.
66. The noble tree has worked with the highest diligence in nature from the beginning until today so that it might be revealed to all peoples, tongues, and languages. Against this, the Devil raged and stormed in wild nature and defended himself like a fierce lion. But the longer it went, the sweeter the fruits the noble tree brought. It revealed itself more and more clearly against all the raging and storming of the Devil until the end, when it became light.
67. Then a little green branch grew upon the root of the noble tree and received the sap and life of the root. The spirit of the tree was given to it, and it explained the noble tree in its glorious power and might, as well as the nature in which it had grown.
68. When this happened, both doors in nature opened: the knowledge of both qualities, evil and good. The heavenly Jerusalem, as well as the kingdom of hell, became manifest to all people on earth. The light and the voice resounded into the four winds. The false merchant from the Midday was completely revealed, and his own people hated him and uprooted him from the earth.
69. When this happened, the wild tree toward Midnight also withered, and all people saw the holy tree even in distant islands with wonder. The Prince of Darkness was revealed, and his secrets were uncovered. People on earth saw and recognized his shame, mockery, and ruin, for it had become light. But that lasted a short time. Then people left the light and lived in the lusts of their flesh...
...toward ruin. For just as the door of light had opened, so too did the door of darkness. All kinds of powers and arts that were within it came out from both.
70. Just as people had lived from the beginning in the growth of wild nature and only strived for earthly things, it would not get better at the end, but only worse.
71. In the midst of this time, many great storms were stirred up from the West toward the East and the North. From the North, however, a great stream of water went out against the holy tree and ruined many branches on the holy tree. In the middle of the stream, it became light, and the wild tree toward the North withered.
72. And the Prince of Darkness became enraged in the great volatility of nature. For the holy tree surged in nature, as if it would now soon rise and ignite in the glorification of the holy divine Majesty, and give birth from itself to the fierceness that had opposed it for so long and wrestled with it.
73. Likewise, the tree of darkness, fierceness, and ruin also surged terribly, as if it should soon be ignited. Within it, the Prince went out with his legions to ruin the noble fruit from the good tree.
74. And it stood terrifyingly in nature in the fierce quality—the quality in which the Prince of Darkness dwells. To speak in human terms, it was as when one sees a cruel, terrifying storm approaching, which shows itself ghastly and dreadful with much heat lightning and storm winds, so that one is terrified.
75. On the other hand, it stood very lovely, sweet, and full of bliss in the good quality, in which the holy Tree of Life stood, like the kingdom of heavenly joy. These two surged violently against each other so hard until the whole of nature was ignited, both qualities in an instant.
76. And the Tree of Life was ignited in its own quality with the fire of the Holy Spirit. Its quality burned in the fire of the kingdom of heavenly joy in unfathomable light and clarity. In this fire, all voices of the kingdom of heavenly joy qualified, which had been in the good quality from eternity. The light of the holy Trinity shone in the Tree of Life and filled the whole quality in which it stood.
