If you spot an error, have a suggestion, or just want to say hello — we’d love to hear from you.

By this one certainly recognizes that God does not want evil, but wants His kingdom to come and His ruling to happen, as in heaven so also on earth.
19. Because the human being is poisoned through sin, so that the fierce quality as well as the good rules in them, and they are now half dead and with great lack of understanding can no longer recognize God their Creator, nor nature and its working; therefore nature has applied its highest diligence from the beginning until today. To this end God has given His Holy Spirit, so that nature has at all times and in all ways born and prepared wise, holy, and understanding people who have learned to recognize nature as well as God their Creator, and who have always been the light of the world through their writing and teaching. With this God has prepared His church on earth to His eternal praise, against which the devil has raged and stormed and destroyed many a noble branch through the fierceness in nature, of which he is prince and god.
20. When nature has often prepared a learned, understanding person with beautiful gifts, the devil has applied his highest diligence to lead that person astray into carnal lusts, into pride, and into the desire to be rich and to have power. With this the devil has ruled in them, and the fierce quality has overcome the good, and from their understanding and from their art and wisdom, heresy and error have grown, which mocked the truth and caused great error on earth, and such a person has been a good army leader for the devil.
21. For the evil quality in nature has struggled with the good from the beginning and still does, and has raised itself up and corrupted many a noble fruit in the mother's womb, as is clearly to be seen first with Cain and Abel, who came from one mother's womb. Cain was a despiser of God and proud from the mother's womb, whereas Abel was a humble, God-fearing person. One also sees this with the three sons of Noah, as well as with Abraham with Isaac and Ishmael, but especially with Isaac with Esau and Jacob, who pushed and struggled with each other in the mother's womb, which is why God also says: Jacob have I loved, and Esau have I hated. Genesis 25, 23. This is nothing other than that both
Both qualities in nature have struggled vehemently with one another.
22. For when God surged in nature at that same time and wanted to reveal Himself to the world through the pious Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and wanted to prepare for Himself a church on earth for His glory and magnificence, the wickedness surged in nature along with it, and its prince, Lucifer. Because there was Evil and Good in the human being, both qualities could reign in them, therefore an evil and a good person were born from one mother at the same time.
23. It is also clearly to be seen in the first world, as well as in the second until the end of our time, how the heavenly and hellish kingdoms in nature have at all times struggled with each other and stood in great labor, like a woman in birth.
24. In Adam and Eve it is most clearly seen, for there a tree grew up in Paradise of both qualities, Evil and Good; there Adam and Eve were to be tested, whether they could persist in the good quality, in the Englischer Art angelic manner and form. For the Creator forbade Adam and Eve to eat of the fruit, but the evil quality in nature struggled with the good and brought Adam and Eve into the desire to eat of both. Therefore they soon, in that very hour, received an thierische Art animal manner and form, and ate of Evil and Good, and had to multiply and live in an animal manner, and many a noble branch born of them was corrupted.
25. Thereafter one sees how God worked in nature as the holy fathers were born in the first world, namely Abel, Seth, Enos, Kenan, Mahalaleel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, and the holy Noah: these proclaimed the name of the Lord to the world and preached repentance, for the Holy Spirit worked in them.
26. On the other hand, the hellish God also worked in nature and born mockers and despisers, first Cain and his descendants: and it went with the first world as with a young tree that grows, greens, and blooms beautifully, but brings forth little good fruit because of its wild nature. Thus nature in the first world brought forth little good fruit, even though it bloomed beautifully in worldly art and luxury: for that could not grasp the Holy Spirit, which worked in nature then just as it does now.
