34. Now, the Son is a different person than the Father, but not outside the Father, and also no other God than the Father; His power, radiance, and omnipotence are nothing smaller than the entire Father.
35. The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son, and is the third self-subsisting person in the Godhead. Just as the elements in this world proceed from the sun and stars and are the moving spirit in all things in this world: so also is the Holy Spirit the moving spirit in the entire Father, and proceeds from eternity to eternity always from the Father and the Son, and fills the entire Father; He is nothing smaller or greater than the Father and Son; His weaving power is in the entire Father.
36. All things in this world came into being according to the likeness of this Trinity. You blind Jews, Turks In the 17th-century context of Böhme, this referred generally to Muslims, and heathens, open the eyes of the mind; I must show you the likeness of the Holy Trinity in God in your own body and in all natural things, in humans, animals, birds, and worms, as well as in wood, stone, herbs, leaves, and grass.
37. You say there is a single being in God, and that God has no Son. Now open your eyes and look at yourself; a human being is made according to the likeness and out of the power of God in His Trinity. Look at your inner man, and you will see that clearly and purely, provided you are not a fool and an irrational animal. So note: in your heart, veins, and brain, you have your spirit; all the power that moves in your heart, veins, and brain, in which your life stands, signifies God the Father. Out of that same power, your light rises up, so that in that same power you see, understand, and know what you should do: for that same light glimmers in your entire body, and the entire body moves in the power and knowledge of the light, for the body helps all members in the knowledge of the light; that signifies God the Son. For just as the Father gives birth to the Son out of His power, and the Son shines in the entire Father: so also the power of your heart, your veins, and your brain gives birth to a light that shines in all your powers, in your entire body. Open the eyes of your mind and think upon it, and you will find it to be so.
38. Now note, just as from the Father and the Son proceeds
the Holy Spirit, and is a self-subsisting person in the Godhead, and surges in the entire Father: so also there goes out from the powers of your heart, veins, and brain, the power that surges in your entire body. And from your light, there goes out into that same power, reason, understanding, art, and wisdom to govern the entire body, and also to distinguish everything that is outside the body. And both of these are one thing in your governance of the mind—your spirit—and that signifies God the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit from God also rules in this spirit in you, provided you are a child of the light and not of the darkness.
39. For because of this light, understanding, and governance, man is distinguished from the animals and is an angel of God, as I will clearly prove when I write about the creation of man.
40. Therefore, note this carefully, and pay attention to the order of this book; you will find what your heart desires or ever longs for.
41. Thus, you find three spring-fountains in a human being: firstly, the power in your entire mind, which signifies God the Father; thereafter, the light in your entire mind, which enlightens the entire mind, which signifies God the Son.
42. Thereafter, there goes out from all your powers, and also from your light, a spirit that is understanding. For all the veins, together with the light in you, as well as the heart and brain and everything that is in you, create that same spirit; and that is your soul, and it rightly signifies the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son and rules in the entire Father, just as the soul of man rules in the entire body.
43. The body, however, or the animal flesh in man, signifies the dead, corrupted earth, which man himself prepared through his fall, as will follow hereafter in its place. The soul holds within the inner first Principium Principle; and the spirit of the soul the second Principle in the Ternario Sancto Holy Trinity; and the outer spirit, as the sidereal, the third Principle of this world.
44. Thus, you also find the Trinity of the Godhead in animals, for just as the spirit of a human being becomes and arises, so it also does in an animal, and in that there is no difference: except that in this there is the difference, that man is made from the best kernel...
