The answer of the Lord

You cannot say the thing came ever from ME:
It was your own heart that first enticed you,
To pride and malice, and to every ill,
And in rebellion you the heavens did fill.
So, foolishly you cannot charge your God;
But now I will make you tremble at my rod,
And you shall surely find you are undone:
And to your very words I now shall come, Read page 9, Dispute with the Powers of Darkness.

And ask what evil spirit loved you,
That you with Satan did so much agree,
By every art that you to her referring to Joanna have spoken?
And now I will make you tremble at the stroke;
For all your jesting you have carried too far;
And all your power I will make it to appear;
And all your arts to men are now made known,
And all your hellish lies before them shown;
Forward and backward you in lies did go;
And now I will make you tremble at the blow.
Unless to ME you humbly now submit,
Confess your guilt, and now repent of it;
And all your witchcraft you will throw aside,
That by your hellish arts are here applied:
For, as you have spoken into the woman's ear, The ear of Eve in the beginning, and Joanna's at the ending.

I know in man you daily do appear,
With every subtle art to lead astray;
As in this page your subtle arts do lie;
And tempt them daily for to leave their God,
And full as many ways before them showed
How they in earthly grandeur all may shine,
And so you come and rob the souls that are mine,
That I at first created from the dust:
And from your very words, I say, you are cast;
Unless you will promise to renounce them all,
And a new life you instantly will call.
For, as you say, you are but Satan's friend,
To vindicate your master you are sent;
And with your master I do bid you go.
Are you his friend? then now his friendship know;
For, as you have threatened, you shall feel the blow;
Unless you instantly turn another way,
And act yourself, as you to her did say.
Confess yourself, that all you have done is wrong;
Renounce your master, and break every bond,
That you in union with your friend have made;
Confess, by Satan, you have been betrayed;
