And as the twenty-sixth page appears, those were Satan’s arguments with his angels there. When they were first cast out of heaven, he burst out at the angels in that manner. He told them plainly that God acted unjustly to cast out so great a king as he was. He claimed his mighty power came from his own orb his own sphere of existence or celestial body and that he had created them by his own power. Therefore, he argued, they should worship him as supreme.
He argued with all the angels who then repented that they had ever consented to join him, using the same logic he uses here. He boasted of his power and made them all confess, "God was unjust not to let him reign upon his throne with all the angels he called his own." Thus, through threats, he got everyone on his side and denied all the justice of their God. Together they all said, I was unjust, and everyone condemned their God for casting him out.
But just as you * Joanna. blamed the Devil throughout, my heavenly angels did the same. But I shall direct the way further on and tell you how his subtle arts worked. For as the Fourth Day appears, so was Satan’s argument there, filled with every blasphemy against his God. He claimed he was overthrown by the angels. He blasphemed them and their Maker when he gained the fallen angels by threatening them to stand by his side.
Here is the bill a formal legal accusation or statement of grievances that must now be applied, which he brought against the Saviour there because he shared the Crown with ME. Satan said, "that I cast him down; he said his power was found from his own orb; for it was never given to him by ME." † Satan denies being created by God. So they all agreed together that I had surely cast him out unjustly. He claimed he ought to appear in heaven with ME and reign as a supreme king in my heaven. Thus his wisdom was seen by everyone, judging their Maker to be entirely unjust; and so the bill was cast against me. Based on their own bill, I surely raised them up; and by their own bill, the leader shall now fall.
