The answer of the Lord

Those who act according to my Gospel here,
As I commanded Peter to appear,
And as I bid you copy after ME.
But now, you Shepherds ministers or religious leaders, you see your own folly;
You have not acted according to my law,
I ask you where I ever showed a likeness to your behavior?
If any person ever appealed to ME,
Did I refuse to hear what they had to say?
Before I granted them their full request,
Or did I ever turn them away empty-handed,
Those who came to ME and asked for any favor?
Weigh my Gospel and my Bible deeply;
Oppressed to make my Shepherds, you are like your sheep,
Oppressed to gather an Egyptian load a reference to the heavy burdens and slavery of the Israelites in Egypt;
And by temptations, all forsake their God;
For all grace is taken away from you;
And nothing but stubble lies before you;
And you have broken down all my altars;
You refused my servant, tremble at the sound! * Joanna was refused the sacrament the bread and wine of Holy Communion by a clergyman at Exeter, because she chose to be faithful to her divine visitation.

And so you are brought under the Egyptian's load,
And now let Pharaoh here representing Satan as a tyrant tremble at his rod;
Since he has now so boldly tempted man,
That neither sheep nor shepherds can withstand his arts:
For here, like Jezebel the wicked queen who stole Naboth's vineyard, he stole the seal.
Another mystery I will reveal:
It was Satan's arts that worked on Pomeroy's the Reverend John Pomeroy, an early contact of Southcott who later burned her letters mind
To seal the letter that bound Bruce's Basil Bruce, a devoted supporter who died unexpectedly in 1801 death;
As by that letter Bruce's faith drew back; † A letter was sent by a Minister of Exeter to the late Mr. Basil Bruce, which was one of the various causes of him losing his faith in the divine authority of Joanna's writings. That letter, along with the efforts of people who call themselves friends of Mr. Brothers Richard Brothers, another self-proclaimed prophet, one of whom ruined his own reputation as a gentleman, without considering his duty as a Christian, told an afflicted widow that the death of her husband was a judgment from God because of his belief in these writings. This person showed steady, unshaken friendship only to Mr. Brothers. Others were also prompted by all the arts of Satan to do the same, and they did not hesitate to wound her feelings so that Satan might possess the whole vineyard, and their success has been too fatal. Mr. Brothers has also been much injured by such friends: and if these hellish arts were to succeed, his life would end in a mad-house. But God is just.

And justice then must make him feel the rack extreme suffering or testing;
Because his death must appear in that way,
As he could not be fit for my kingdom here.

And so Satan soon gained his vineyard,
And sons of Belial wicked and worthless men maintained the same.
And so I tell you he robbed everyone there;
And now you see clearly he intends to take possession,
Through unbelief he possesses the whole;
And now, like Jezebel, his fall shall come;
As he has tried to gain every vineyard,
And he is now taking every grace from men;
So that all are under the Egyptian's yoke;
And now, like Pharaoh, he shall feel the stroke of punishment.
These evil spirits shall come out of men,
And, like the swine referring to the biblical story where demons entered pigs and drowned in the sea, be choked in the sand;
For I have not come before my time,
And the Tempter shall surely find that to be true;
Because he has so betrayed my shepherds
To be dumb dogs silent or negligent watchmen who do not warn the flock, as I said before;
Like hirelings paid workers who have no real care for the animals, who did not care for the sheep,
They saw the wolf, and so they fled from it;
Because the wolf appeared to all of them,
With every art, as he has spoken here;
And so he has betrayed all my shepherds.
I have only three where I have placed a restraint;
That is, to keep them from the tempter's power:
And they shall see the glorious hour with ME;
Because I knew their spirits beforehand.
Salt was in them the "salt of the earth," implying spiritual preservation, and they show that salt now.
But now I shall begin here with Satan:
I have seen the burdens of the sons of men,
I have seen it in every age that has passed.
And now my fury shall burst upon him.
For I allowed him to appear as a king;
And now let men and devils fear his reign;
Because I will now show his reign through men,
And I will bring his ruin just like theirs.
And I shall appear from the thirtieth page,
And let them answer here to men's conscience.
See if I do not condemn him in justice;
And I shall now come to men of sense,
And ask them: Have I not tried his reign?
He has poured out fury on the sons of men.
And now let them see the thirty-first page
How he has condemned my just decrees,
To let my SON suffer for the sake of Man!
But how could I undertake their cause in such a way,
Had I not come and been a JUDGE before,
Of all the sufferings they underwent?
