A complex allegorical engraving serves as the frontispiece. At the top, the Tetragrammaton the four-letter name of God, YHWH shines within a radiant sun surrounded by clouds. Below, a central tree or pillar is inscribed with "CHRIST." At its base is an altar or pedestal marked with the Greek letters Alpha A and Omega Ω, representing the beginning and the end. Flanking this central axis are groups of holy figures, possibly apostles or prophets, seated upon clouds. In the middle ground, two figures hold open a large parchment scroll containing the title of the work. The bottom section depicts various scholars and men in historical and exotic, orientalized costumes, seated and engaged in reading large folios and writing. A signature at the bottom left reads "P. Bon. invenit," meaning P. Bon. designed it, and at the bottom right "S. Savery Sculp:," meaning Salomon Savery engraved it.
