The Imperator goes to his place; the Celebrants and Lesser Officers take their fixed stations; and the ordinary Brothers are arranged North and South, according to the precedence of their Grades. All Members are seated, and a short pause of inward reflection follows.
Master of the Temple.— rhythmic mark/knock —
All rise.
The Auxiliary Brother Zelator lifts up his Lamp and Wand.
Master of the Temple.—Brothers and Sisters original: "Fratres et Sorores" of the Savior of the World original: "Salvator Mundi" Temple (or another Temple original: "vel Templum aliud"), duly assembled under warrants for the Mysteries of the Rosy Cross, help me to open the Temple of our Holy Order in the Grade of Neophyte.
Brother Zelator (speaking from his place in the West, with his Lamp and Wand raised).—The Light of the Supernals be upon us in the place of our devotion, and may the Lord, who is with us from the beginning, ensure the end.
He lowers his Lamp and Wand.
Master of the Temple.—Brother Ostiarius Doorkeeper, see that the Temple is guarded on the other side of the Portal, as an outward sign of the mysteries of caution that are within.
A Temple of the Rosy Cross has no outer guarding like Lodges of the Lesser Mysteries. Therefore, Brother Ostiarius answers this way:
Brother Ostiarius.—Honorable Master, the Temple is guarded outside by the Invisible Keepers of the Mysteries: the Portal is secured within, and I stand on this side as a witness of vigilance and a pledge of caution.
Master of the Temple (with eyes raised and Wand held high).—Brothers and Sisters, let us put away the thoughts of the outer world. The Temple is guarded without; let the heart be guarded within.
