THE CEREMONY OF RECEPTION INTO

Master of the Temple, its Warden, and the Guide of the Paths. They have descended from a world which is above to administer the benefits and comforts belonging to this Holy Grade.

Master of the Temple.—What do you testify concerning the Lesser Officers?

Warden of the Temple.—These are also three, with the exception of the Doorkeeper Ostiarius, who is the Novice at the Entrance original: "Portal" of the Rosy Cross and is therefore outside the Triad. They are the Assistant Brother original: "Frater" Zelator, who is the Proclaimer Proclamator and Light-bearer Lucifer of the Temple; the Brother Thurificans, who carries the Sacred Fire; and the Brother Aquarius, Keeper of the Holy Water. Their Offices are specific to the Fourth Mystical World, or that comprised by the First Order of the Rosy Cross.

The Aquarius, standing in his place, raises the Vessel of Water.

Brother Aquarius.—My place is in the West of the Temple, on the Northern side, and I carry the Water of my Office. My Office is greater than I am, and I ask to be dissolved within it. In the grace of that union, I am the Waters of Salvation which pour upon the World of the Soul. As the deer pants original: "hart panteth" after the water-brooks, so does the Soul within me long for You, O GOD. It is in this sense that I sanctify with Water my Brothers and Co-Heirs of the Order, and the Novice at his reception.

The Vessel of Water is lowered. The Censer-bearer Thurifer, standing in his place, raises the Vessel of Fire, with incense smoke rising.

Brother Thurificans.—My place is in the West of the Temple, on the Southern side, and I carry the Censer Thurible of my Office. My Office is greater than I am, and I seek to be consumed by it. In the grace of that union I am
