A mystagogical quintology

Horeb and Calvary and Sinai,
Horeb, Calvary, and Sinai are biblical mountains associated with divine revelation and sacrifice.
All peaks where man has suffered and has seen
Some little corner of the mystery,
Are far below; they are of no more use;
We must have the whole truth, O Lord, and You.
So we call to You across the infinite space between:
We can do no more; therefore Your time has come:
Man's part is finished; let God Himself fulfill the rest.
O You, the desire of the eternal hills,
Spirit of Strength, Spirit of Counsel, come,
Come, holy, holy God! Come, Prince of Peace!
Behold, we are holy and we call on You;
Prodigal and wicked, yet the more we call;
Whatever good or evil dwells in us,
The time has come when You must be entirely ours.
Amen, it shall be so: we will not wait:
Maker of all desire, You know this,
You know us. We do not call alone;
The voice of Antichrist and Lucifer,
With every voice in agonized appeal,
Invoke You now. And You, O Lord, will come,
You will not fail or delay, or bestow
Only a part again, or offer a symbol and sign,
But You will give Your entire, gracious Self,
When all our thirst will cease, for we are Yours,
Sweet Father-Mother of the gods and men!
