You have heard that it was said to those of old: You shall not kill. But whoever kills shall be liable to judgment. Exodus 20:23.

But I say to you: Whoever is angry with his brother is liable to judgment. But whoever says to his brother, Racha an Aramaic term of contempt meaning empty-headed, is liable to the council. But whoever says, "you fool", is liable to the fire of hell.

Therefore, if you offer your gift upon the altar and remember there that your brother has something against you,
