Tubal Cain was the first craftsman to work with brass and iron. He was certainly skilled in the preparation required to find mines, extract ore, and smelt it. The process of reducing copper ore to metal through several calcinations heating a substance to high temperatures to remove impurities and mixing it with calamine a zinc ore to create brass is a very difficult operation in metallurgy. Therefore, Tubal Cain is considered the first inventor of chemistry as it relates to manufacturing.
Universal chemistry allows the science of alchemy to open the knowledge of all nature. Because it is founded on first principles the fundamental primary laws of existence, it shares an analogy with all knowledge based on those same laws. From this perspective, Moses is a universal chemist in his description of the creation. He reveals the creation of the philosophers' stone the legendary substance capable of turning base metals into gold and granting eternal life through this process:
"The earth was without form, and void; 2, Darkness was on the face of the deep; 3, The spirit of God moved on the face of the waters; 4, God said, Let there be light, and there was light; 5, He divided the light from the darkness; 6, He divided the upper from the lower waters, by a firmament; 7, He separated the water from the earth; 8, The earth vegetated; 9, He made the stars, sun, and moon; 10, The waters brought forth animal life; 11, The earth brought forth animal life; 12, He made his own image, having dominion over all."
This same alchemical knowledge is attributed to Saint John the Divine. It may be said of all inspired writers who knew the wisdom of God intimately. Saint John describes the redemption or the new creation of the fallen soul using these same principles. This continues until the work is finished. In this state, the Divine tincture a spiritual medicine or essence changes the base metal of the soul into a perfection that can survive the fire of eternity.
The seven churches, or states of spiritual rebirth, correspond to the seven days of creation. They also match the seven regimens of the stone the sequential stages of the alchemical process. The last of these stages is gold that has been tested by fire.
The revelation of Divine Chemistry will create a new heaven and a new earth using these same principles during the final days. This process is equally descriptive of the stone. The fallen universe is passing through a process that will eventually match the philosophical transmutation the conversion of one substance into another of the earth and elements as described by Saint John.
