...conditioned by a closed box, or the description of those people who are in an adjoining room. Learning to see by means of Röntgenstrahlen X-rays in addition to those rays which one usually perceives would suffice to enable someone to perform a magical feat of this kind.

So far, we have only thought about an expansion of the purely physical senses of man. However, if one considers that the Astralkörper astral body the subtle energy body that permeates the physical form of man is actually only the finer part of his physical shell, and that therefore all his sensory organs contain a large amount of Ätherstoff etheric matter of various degrees of density, the capabilities of which lie latent in most people, it is evident that even if one limits oneself to this path of development, possibilities of all kinds open up before the astonished gaze.

The Okkultist occultist knows that man possesses an astral and a Mentalkörper mental body. Both can be awakened to conscious activity in the course of time. They will then respond to the vibrations of the matter of their own planes when the occasion arises. They open two entirely new and much larger worlds of knowledge and power to the Ego the higher self or individuality as it learns to work in these bodies. Now, one must not imagine these new worlds as entirely separate from one another in substance, even though they surround us everywhere and interpenetrate each other. Rather, they merge into one another. The coarsest astral matter is directly connected to the finest physical matter, just as the coarsest mental matter merges into the finest astral matter. One should not imagine new and foreign types of matter. Instead, one must think of ordinary physical matter divided into very fine sub-types and provided with much finer Schwingungszuständen vibrational states, which immediately unlock new conditions and properties.

Then it will no longer be difficult to imagine the possibility of a steady and continued expansion of our senses, so that one becomes capable through sight as well as hearing to perceive much higher and much deeper vib-

-rations than those usually recognized. A large number of these new vibrations will still belong to the physischen Plane physical plane. They will only enable us to receive impressions from the etheric part of this plane, which is currently a sealed book. Such impressions are still received through the retina of the eye. They will therefore affect its etheric matter rather than its solid matter. Nevertheless, one can view them as impressions that require a special organ to receive them, rather than the entire surface of the Ätherkörper etheric body.

There are, however, some exceptional cases in which other parts of the etheric body respond to these new vibrations just as quickly, or even faster than the eye. There are various explanations for this, but this is particularly the effect of a partial astral development. One will find that the sensitive parts of the body almost always correspond with one of the chakrams chakras, the so-called Lotosblüten lotus flowers or life centers of the astral body. These centers cannot yet function on their own plane if the astral consciousness is not yet sufficiently developed. Still, they are strong enough to stimulate the etheric matter they interpenetrate into greater activity.

With the Astralsinnen astral senses, the nature of effectiveness is quite different. The astral body has no specially developed sensory organs. This fact perhaps requires some explanation. Many students of Theosophie theosophy a system of esoteric philosophy seeking direct knowledge of the divine who seek to understand its physiology find it difficult to reconcile what has been said about the perfect interpenetration of the physical body with astral matter, the exact correspondence between the two bodies, and the fact that every physical object necessarily has its astral Spiegelbild mirror image.

Now, all these statements are undoubtedly true, and yet it is possible that people who cannot see normally in the astral realm may misunderstand them. Every type of physical matter is constantly connected with its corresponding type of astral matter. It can only be separated from it by a very strong exercise of occult power.
