Damage to the physical organ can affect astrale Sehkraft astral sight; In theosophical theory, astral sight is usually considered independent of the physical eye, but the text here suggests a potential connection. however, if the visual power produced by the ointment is ätherisch etheric, then the destruction of the physical eye will in most cases suddenly extinguish it, since the eye is the mechanism through which this faculty works.
Furthermore, anyone who possesses this recently discussed power of Hellsehens clairvoyance will also be able to perceive the ätherischen Doppelgänger etheric double of a person. Since this is almost identical in size to the physical body, it hardly attracts a person's attention, except when the Ätherkörper etheric body partially steps outside during a Trance-Zustande trance state or under the influence of anesthetics. When this body completely separates from the physical body after death, it is clearly visible to the clairvoyant. It can often be seen hovering over fresh graves when one passes by churchyards. At spiritualist Sitzungen seances, such a clairvoyant will see the etheric matter gradually flowing out from the side of the Mediums medium and can observe the various ways in which communicating entities use it for their purposes.
Another fact that will certainly soon come to their consciousness is the expansion of their perception regarding colors. They will be able to see some entirely new colors that are not in the least similar to those currently known to us, and therefore cannot be described with the words available to us. Indeed, they will not only see new objects that belong entirely to these new colors, but they will also discover that the things known to them have changed their coloring in various ways. This depends on whether they carry some shade of these new colors mixed with the old ones or not. Thus, two surfaces of color that appear as one to the ordinary eye often show clearly different shades to their sharper gaze.
We have now discussed some of the principal changes that enter a person's field of vision when they attain etheric sight; and it should be remembered that corresponding changes will also occur in other senses at the same time, so that
he will be capable of hearing and perhaps also feeling more than most of those in his surroundings. Let us now assume that he also attains the power to see on the Astralplane astral plane; what further changes would then occur?
Well, these would be very great and diverse; a whole new world would actually open up to his eyes. We want to briefly consider its wonders in the same order as before and first clarify the difference that would occur in the appearance of inanimate things; and I want to begin by quoting a drastic answer recently given in The Vahan a Theosophical magazine.
"There is a great difference between etheric and astral seeing, and this latter seems to be related to the vierten Dimension fourth dimension."
To understand the difference, it will be best to take an example. If someone looks at a man with both visual powers one after the other, then in both cases they see the buttons on the back of his coat. Only with etheric sight would they see them through him and could consider the inside as being closest; with astralen Schauen astral seeing, on the other hand, they would also be able to observe this, but in the way as if they were standing directly behind the man.
If one looks at a wooden cube inscribed on all sides with the etheric eye, the cube would appear as if made of glass, thus entirely transparent. They would see the writing on the opposite side from behind, while the writing on the right and left sides would only become clearly visible if one moves further, as one would otherwise have to view them from the corner. With the astral eye, however, one would be able to observe all sides at once and all in the correct position, as if the sides of the cube were spread out on a flat plane. One could also see every part of the interior just as well, not through the others, but completely unrolled before one. One would view it from another direction at right angles to all directions known to us.
If one looks at the back of a watch etherically, then
