And as the twenty-sixth page appears,
There were Satan’s pleadings with his angels.
When they were first cast out of Heaven,
In that manner, he burst out to the Angels,
And told them plainly that God acted unjustly
"To have so great a king as he cast out!
Whose mighty power came from his own orb,
And by his power he had created them,
And therefore, they should worship Him supreme!"
Like all his pleadings here, he argued
With all the Angels who did then repent,
That they ever consented to join with him.
Then he boasted just as much of his power,
And made them all confess that GOD was unjust
Not to let HIM reign upon his throne,
With all the angels he called his own.
So by threats he got everyone on his side,
And they denied all the justice of their God!
"And all together said, I was unjust;"
And everyone condemned their God for being cast out.
But as you blamed the Devil throughout,
Just so, My Heavenly Angels did the same.
But, further on, I shall direct the way,
And tell you how his subtle arts were laid.
For as the Fourth day appears;
I tell you, so was Satan’s pleading there,
With every blasphemy against his God,
Claiming that by the Angels he was overthrown.
He blasphemed them and their MAKER in this way:
When he had gained the fallen Angels
By all his threats to stand by his side,
Then here is the indictment that must now be applied,
Which he brought against the Saviour there;
Because He shared the Crown with Me.
And Satan said, "that I cast him down
From his own orb;" he said, his power was found there,
Satan denies being formed by God.
"For it was never given to him by Me;"
And so they all agreed together,
The demons all agreed in this even at this time.
That I had surely cast him out unjustly;
That he ought to appear in Heaven with Me,
And to reign supreme as a king in My Heaven,
And so his wisdom was seen by all.
To judge their Maker, he was entirely unjust,
And so the indictment was cast against ME.
So, by their indictment, I surely raised them up,
And by their indictment the leader shall now fall.
As he then appealed to the Angels:
Asking if I did not fail in justice to them
By overthrowing his mighty power?
And now, he shall feel and know My justice.
If he began as a mighty King in Heaven
To oppose the laws that I had given,
And appeared as a fiery Serpent,
I ask him how his Golden Orb came to be there?
Or how he breathed the BREATH OF LIFE into it?
I soon CREATED MAN to end the strife;
And I made him Lord of this world below,
And I surely showed everything to Adam;
That I had given everything to Man.
And now I shall come to the Serpent:
And ask him how he became a Prince below,
If I showed him no justice?
To give him Power to test his reign,
To see how he would act where he could gain subjects?
And where I let him show his power,
I shall let him know, from Cain and Abel:
That he immediately began as a murderer,
Because his power over Man was seen in Cain.
And so he immediately slew his brother;
But Abel’s blood now cries out for Vengeance,
To show the power of the BOASTED King.
And do they think I shall screen such a murderer?
To have the Heavens appear in Murder!
It would all have been like Cain and Abel there,
If I had ever given him a seat in Heaven
After his pride and malice swelled so great.
No, as he surely made the Earth mourn;
Just so, he would turn the Heavens into disorder.
But, as the Angels who fell with him
Judged Me unjust—and so they all judged Me—
Then, to convince them, I raised him up.
To gain My Honor, let the Fool remain
Until I have brought them a heavier indictment here;
And so in that way I shall clear My justice,
To gain My honor over Satan’s host,
And show their King, whom they boasted of so much.
And now I will show his reign in men:
Where I let Satan guide their every hand.
But first, a King: I likened him to Saul;
I tell you all, when he was free from pride,
Or appeared little in his own eyes,
I gave him power he could never bear
Once he saw a David come after him
With his ten thousands; this brought on his doom.
