* The preachers declare God's punishment upon their congregations, but ignore His promised blessings that are now at hand, which must arrive alongside the destruction of Satan's power.
To have the kingdom then be torn from him.
And so in Heaven, he then was cast from Me,
And now, like David, he is despised; Likely referring to the spiritual David or Christ as the rightful king whom Satan opposes.
Study your Bibles deeply now, and grow wiser.
Because from kings and queens you shall now see
The very way the end of all will be.
And now with Pharaoh I will begin,
And now like Pharaoh, Satan's army shall end;
Because, like Pharaoh's army, they are all being tested,
And here is a mystery now that must be applied.
He appears like Pharaoh's taskmasters,
To burden men with sins they cannot bear.
Now they lay the load upon one another,
Every footstep taken through Satan's arts.
Oh, how Satan complains like Pharaoh!
And daily he accuses the sons of men!
That My command is not obeyed by man!
Satan's witchcraft is laid out like Pharaoh's words:
For he uses all his arts to work within man,
To take the perfect truth away from them.
For by their shepherds now, I well know,
They give them stubble and deny them straw: Refers to Exodus 5:7-18, where Pharaoh forced the Israelites to make bricks without straw; here, it signifies the clergy demanding righteousness while denying the spiritual support of God's promises. *
Because they have applied the day of vengeance
To man, but they have denied it to Satan.
They deny that he is the author of all their guilt,
Though he has laid the burden that all have felt.
By every art, he tempts mankind to sin,
And closes in on them daily to hide them;
And I said this should fall upon his head.
But, oh, my shepherds! How will you plead now?
You take these promises away from man,
And you lay every burden upon man!
Which I, through Satan's arts, have applied here,
And if you now deny the truth,
Then I will call you to a strict account,
And tell your sins, and how much they amount to;
That you appear as idle shepherds;
You do not seek to clarify My Law or Gospel;
But say your sheep are all going astray,
And judge that they are wandering in a crooked way;
And yet, you say you will not call them back;
I ask you, how will you answer for your flock?
I have tested many shepherds through her, Referring to the prophetess, Joanna Southcott.
And yet, I am denied by every one!
Because I have found only three shepherds,
And not one of them was warned by her. Refers to the three ministers (likely Rev. Stanhope, Rev. Bruce, and Rev. Webster) who investigated her claims independently.
No, they began as shepherds themselves,
To hear their Master’s voice and imitate Him;
"To know the truth, we will go down and see
Whether it has proven to be as it has come to us."
Then now, in Me, you may see these three men,
To know they are three, and they agree as one.
Then here you will find the voice of the True Shepherd,
Whom all mankind shall know I have made My choice;
To be the Rock to build My Church upon,
And I mean to come to My shepherds first,
And then I shall move on to deal with Satan.
For now, you shall all find a Moses here;
I have come to them now; I have come to clear them;
And I daily see their taskmasters
Increase their load; but now, I will free them from their load:
And they shall now possess the promised land,
As when I made Adam stand in My likeness:
I made him lord of this Earth here below;
You all know I promised him this Earth;
But then a Pharaoh quickly arose,
Who despised all My chosen people.
He daily tried to take their grace away,
And yet his bitter complaint was against them:
That they were all sinners by common consent.
So his mind was set on tempting them all,
And so he increased their load through sin,
Yet all the blame was surely thrown on them.
As you see plainly in My Bible,
HE was the great accuser of mankind.
So now, you shepherds, wake up and see it clearly:
Did not Satan first appear like Pharaoh?
With every art of sin to burden man,
He robbed them of the grace that was given to them;
And yet he still complains against them,
Judging them to be sinners—judge, you sons of men;
How many ways he appeared to Job,
And in every way, he condemned him there;
And he always does the same in every way,
And I will name all his ways, which are much like Pharaoh's,
And now, like Pharaoh, he shall surely be cast out.
And will you, shepherds, be like Pharaoh's army,
And proudly boast of your own goodness,
Claiming that all the fault lies surely with your sheep?
You do not keep yourselves from his temptations!
Then now, I will answer you, you sons of men:
I have searched for shepherds, but I have not found one!
