To say there was no mercy nor truth in Me;
Then now I bid them to see their rock.
For as it appears on the seventeenth page,
I tell you, Satan, that was your pleading there:
That you have greater wisdom than their God.
And now your wisdom shall be known to all;
For by your wisdom I raised you up,
And by your wisdom I will now make you fall.
Because you all agreed together
That Satan was a wiser king than I.
And you all condemned My mercies,
Because I would not let the Heavens become
Your confusion and a perfect Hell;
As the malice in your heart swelled
To throw the Heavens into confusion there.
And now I shall clarify the mysteries to man:
To gain My honor, I then raised him up,
And I let him fall as a king on Earth.
And from the dust, I then CREATED MAN,
And gave him power to lay his plan;
To be a king reigning in power,
I gave him subjects he could gain by arts,
To show his power, I let him continue,
To see what kind of heaven he would make for man.
As they all judged he would be the fittest king,
And thought the greatest pleasure was in him.
Then I gave everything up to their wisdom,
And now they shall all fall by their own wisdom.
Because I will gain My honor here;
Now everyone shall see Satan’s justice.
If he is now a king supreme in power,
Let him create an Earth and gain subjects!
For now My justice shall be tried by man;
He has had his power, and he has had it long.
And men still complain of his power,
And say he is a king unfit to reign.
For they do not want such a king here,
And men now appear like the angels,
Wishing to have this prince banished from his throne.
For the process of rejection reprobation is begun by man:
Then now you shall surely see election,
And I will now agree to His justice;
For the fool shall now stand by His justice;
I raised him up when they had all condemned Me,
Just as he has condemned Me here in these writings;
And now I will clarify the mysteries to man.
I made a Hell for Satan at first,
For nothing but Hell burst forth within them:
19
For pride and malice, envy and debate—
Satan’s fury heated the others.
* Here the origin of Hell is easily understood. To secure the society of the righteous in wisdom and happiness, the arm of Divine Power cast out the infernal beings and compels them to be confined in their own hellish union. And when the Kingdom of Heaven comes on Earth, the infernal host must be cast out and chained, so that man may be in heavenly union with God and His angels.
And I banished them to be alone by themselves.*
But their words must be known from these pages;
Page twenty-two must be seen by man.
And there they condemned all My mercies:
“And said he would surely be a Devil now,
“And all the angels should join with him.
“In blasphemy,” he said, against their God,
“And dared the angels to say one word
“In praise of Heaven, or to lament their fall;”
For now the mysteries must be known to all.
How he compelled the fallen angels
To worship him as they fell from Heaven!
“And dared them to ever murmur a word,
And boldly told them they should feel his rod;”
Which made the fallen angels submit,
And they trembled at their leader’s feet.
For as it appears on page twenty-three,
“And he called them complaining weaning devils there,”
Because they so lamented their folly:
“And I know that some of them surely repented
“That they ever left heavenly pleasures,
“And said the Devil deceived them all.
“But then he boldly answered them again,
“That they could never gain MY protection!
“And that he would surely tear them in pieces,
“And he made them fear by his threats:”
“And told them they would surely be heroes
“If they would then join with him in spirit
“And defy all the power of their God;
“Then he would praise them for their company.”
For as it appears on page twenty-four,
He asked what greater power they could fear;
If he was always with them to protect them,
He asked what greater power they expected?
And so he would make them plead his merits,
Just as you plead Christ’s. Remember what he said.
For as it appears on page twenty-five,
“He surely told them there that God was unjust;
“And that their tongues should not run so fast,”
Because a discord burst forth in them all.
When they were hurried down from the Heavens,
I say, confusion was found in them all.
