to ice and at higher temperatures into steam, so every known solid substance can also become liquid or gaseous under special conditions. Every liquid can become solid or gaseous. Every gas can be transformed into a liquid or solid substance.
Okkulte Chemie occult chemistry knows another and finer state than the gaseous state. All known substances can be transformed and transferred into this state. We have given this state the name ätherisch etheric. Science refers to Äther ether, but occult chemistry does not see it as a homogeneous substance. It is simply another state of Materie matter. It is not a new substance, but ordinary matter in a special state. For example, we have Wasserstoff hydrogen in the etheric state instead of the gaseous state. One can transform Gold gold, Silber silver, or any element into a solid, liquid, or gaseous substance. One can also transform them into an even higher state that we call the etheric. There are substances in the world around us that are usually solid like gold, others liquid like Quecksilber mercury, and others gaseous like Sauerstoff oxygen. Similarly, there are substances that are etheric in their normal state. They usually occur in this state, although they can be transformed into the gaseous or even a higher state through a special process.
Modern science speaks of oxygen or hydrogen atoms. It also speaks of atoms of the sixty or seventy substances that the chemist calls elements. In theory, an element is something that cannot be divided further. Each of these elements has its own atom. As we can see from the Greek derivation of the word, an atom means that which can neither be cut nor divided further. Occult science has always taught what physical science has only recently recognized. All these so-called elements are not elements in the true sense of the word. What we call an oxygen or hydrogen atom is not the ultimate part. It is not an atom, but a Molekül molecule. This molecule can be dissolved into atoms under certain circumstances. If one continues this division process even further, one finally arrives at an infinite number of specific physical atoms that are equal to one another. It follows that behind all the different substances there is a Urmaterie primordial matter. The final atoms of this primordial matter form what chemistry calls atoms of hydrogen, oxygen, gold, silver, lithium, or platinum when they enter into different combinations with each other. When they are all divided, one arrives at a kind of atom. These are completely identical to each other, except that some are positive and others are negative.
