This leads us to another very important observation. All these differences in fine matter occur in the outside world and in man himself. He does not only have the physical body we see. He has other bodies within him. These adapt to the different planes of existence and consist of the corresponding materials. The physical body contains both Ätherstoff etheric matter and the solid matter we can see. The author refers readers to Plate XXIV and XXV. This etheric matter is easily perceivable by the Hellseher clairvoyant. In the same way, a more highly developed clairvoyant perceives the finer astral matter. He sees man represented on the astral plane by an accumulation of astral matter. This is his body or shell that corresponds to this plane. The same thing happens on the mental plane. The Seele soul of man does not just animate one body, but several.
If a man is sufficiently developed, he can be active on all these planes. He is surrounded by a suitable shell of matter belonging to these planes. Through these different shells, he is able to receive impressions from the worlds with which they are related.
We must not believe that man creates these bodies during his future evolution. Every man possesses them from the beginning. However, he is not yet aware of their existence. To a certain extent, we use this higher matter within us constantly without knowing it. Every time we think, we excite the Mentalstoff mental matter in ourselves. A clairvoyant clearly perceives its vibrations. The man first causes these vibrations inside himself. Then they continue in the surrounding matter of corresponding density. Before this thought can act on the physical plane, it must first communicate its vibrations to the Astralstoff astral matter. This matter then causes corresponding wave movements in the ether. The ether then excites the denser physical matter, namely the gray brain matter.
The thought process in us is much longer than we previously believed.
