For three days, one should drink one kuḍava measure [of the preparation] to remove the defects of salt, using Viḍaṅga, Vacā, and Kuṣṭha mixed with Ketakī fluid. (5) Drinking this for three days is the supreme destroyer of acid defects. [Use] Śyāmā, Vahni, Viḍaṅgas, Triphalā, (6) Rock salt, Deodara, and Mustā in equal parts. [Taking] one karṣa measure of this ghee-electuary destroys all defects. (7) Having purified the body in this way, one should worship the deity and the guru, then the maiden, and the cycle of yoginīs; then one should perform the elixir ritual. (8)
Beneficial Foods for Mercury Intake
In a windless place or an underground chamber, devoid of external worries, having conquered the senses and anger, one should consume milk and rice. (9) One should eat Shastika rice, barley, wheat, lentil soup, (10) meat of wild animals, or only milk. (11) Or one should eat strengthening food without vegetables and salt. One should perform body massage with mastu fermented whey and bathe with lukewarm water. (12) One should daily enjoy the company of a woman who is a kākini a woman with specific auspicious physical characteristics, suitable and young. While consuming the essence of mercury, a man becomes blinded by desire. (13) Without intercourse, the mercury causes indigestion. In indigestion, there is trembling, burning sensations, hiccups, fainting, fever, and restlessness. (14) Therefore, one should serve a woman of good fortune and avoid those who are not. (15)
Prohibited Foods in Elixir
Avoid massage with pungent oil, fermented gruel, liquor, curd, (16) Kalingāra, vine-acid, oils, black mustard, (17) wood-apple, mushrooms, eggplant, lentils, nightshade, (18) radish, garlic, pungent, cold, hot, (19) staying awake at night, sleeping during the day, sexual intercourse, (20) quarrels, agitation, worry, and grief. (21)
