If through negligence there is shaking, sleep, lethargy, fever, or restlessness, one should drink the fruit of the cucumber with water for three days to calm it. (18) Or one should lick a powder of dry ginger and rock salt with the acid of the citron. Or, for pacification, one should drink black salt with cow's urine. (19) One should decoct the root of the wild cucumber or pūṅkhā and pātālagaṛuḍī in eight times the amount of water, and drink one-eighth of it with rock salt. (20) Drinking this for three days destroys all disorders; this was spoken by Śiva. Or one should drink the root of the wild creeper with rock salt in cow's urine, one karṣa per day, to overcome all disorders. (21) This is the regimen spoken for those who consume mercury and ignore the dietary rules. (22) One must perform this exact regimen in the elixir process. The elixir, when combined with the proper method, is nectar; when without the method, it is poison. (23)
Transference of Mercury
One should eat camphor, four-spice mixture, koḷa, and bitter fruit mixed with betel leaf; it is beneficial for the transference of mercury. (24)
Method of Killing Mercury
Now, the killing of mercury is explained here properly. Having washed the mercury of the samukha type a specific state of mercury or mercury purified by flavoring, (25) one should gradually cause it to consume an equal part of gold as before. Then, having placed an equal amount of sulfur in it, [mix] with the fluids of divine herbs. (26)
Rub it for three days in a mortar, then [place it] in a crucible. Then, heat it in a dung fire for two or three nights, or [use] a husk fire. (27) Having steamed and rubbed it, [use] the seeds derived from divine herbs. Having put [the mixture] in a diamond-crucible, blow [the fire] for four quarters of the day. (28) It becomes mercury ash, which should be used in all elixirs.
Second Method of Killing Mercury
Rub purified mercury and gold in equal parts with acid for one quarter of the day. (29) Having washed it, take the paste. Add sulfur equal to half the paste. Add borax equal to half the sulfur, and turmeric equal to the total. (30) [Mix] all of that with a woman's flow menstrual blood and the fluid of the banana plant. At the end of the day, having made a ball, cook it in a sand apparatus. (31) Cook it with low heat for a day, then take it out and grind it. Having added sulfur equal to the powder, cook it in the womb apparatus for three days. (32) With a light husk fire, it becomes mercury ash.
Third Method of Killing Mercury
Take three parts of purified mercury and copper powder. (33) Rub for one day with acids, wash, and take the paste. Prepare an equal part of copper-sulfate (mākṣika) essence. (34) Rub all of that for three days with the fluid of cakramarda. Put it in a womb apparatus and cook it for three days with a husk fire. (35) Or cook it for a day and night in a dung fire, and it will turn into ash.
Fourth Method of Killing Mercury
Take purified mercury, mica essence, and gold in equal parts. (36) Add a biḍa a complex salt mixture equal to the total, and rub for a day with banana plant fluid. [Add] the seeds of divine herbs, equal to one part, for two days. (37) Cook it in the womb apparatus in the previously specified manner.
