Rasaratnākara (Rasāyanakhaṇḍa)

Second Instruction

One who knows the Dharma and has conquered the earth like Śiva, having acted as a great practitioner, should always—through a properly performed alchemy—set the boundaries for peace. The body must be protected, as from this, liberation from the mass of infinite merit shall arise; that which is perceived is most wonderful, joy-bestowing, and grants an empire to the wise. (1)

Method of Consuming Mica for the Purpose of Grounding/Field-Preparation

One should consume mica first, having killed it and rendered it like nectar, one niṣka a weight measure for a month, for the purpose of field-preparation grounding the body to receive the elixir. (2) Since mica is the field of mercury, one should therefore perform alchemy. If there is no field-preparation, mercury, even if nectar, turns into poison. (3) Just as [a harvest succeeds] upon good seeds, where else would the fruit of success come from?

Diamond-Five-Mercury Elixir

One should prepare equal parts of killed diamond and mercury ash. (4) [Add] gold killed to one-fourth the amount of mercury, [rub] everything in the middle [of a mortar] for a day, and cook that ball in a sealed crucible. (5) Cook it again in a diamond-crucible with the milks of arka Calotropis gigantea. Consume [this] for all diseases, increasing the dose up to one māṣa a bean-sized weight. (6) This mercury, known as Diamond-Mercury, is the target for practitioners. [Consume] equal parts of citraka Plumbago zeylanica, kṣāra alkali, saindhava rock salt, and suvarcala a type of black salt always as an after-drink; it is beneficial for potency. (7) By using this for six months, one lives as long as the moon and stars. (8) Freed from wrinkles and gray hair, one gains a divine body and great strength.

Diamond-Lord Mercury (Vajreśvararasa)

Prepare two parts of killed diamond from killed mercury. (9) [Take] an equal amount of killed kānta magnetic iron ore to the two, and killed mica equal to the kānta. Rub all of that with the juices of bhṛṅgaja Eclipta prostrata and steep it for three days. (10) [After] two days [add] the juices of gokṣura Tribulus terrestris and honey, then lick one māṣa. This mercury, named the Diamond-Lord, creates a diamond-like body for men. (11)
