Mercury consumed with effort according to the scriptural path provides success. Otherwise, if eaten, it will kill a man like poison. (158)
First, one should perform vomiting, then purging. Then, eat boiled food, and afterward, consume the mercury. (159)
The excellent, purified mercury always creates body-iron immortality/strength. Consumed, it destroys all diseases and grants all success. (160)
By the same measure that the mercury acts as a transmuter of metal, by that same measure, when eaten, it removes disease from the body. (161)
Rājikā, Priyaṅgu, mustard, green gram, black gram, a red seed, or chickpea, or even a valla measure of mercury. (162)
This dose is declared in mercury by experts in mercury-work. One should consume it with an adjuvant a substance taken with medicine to help it together with a piece of betel leaf. (163)
When mercury is consumed thus, one is freed from all diseases. Freed from all sins, one attains the supreme path. (164)
This concludes the first chapter, titled "The Description of the Eighteen Mercury Processes," in the Rasaprakāśasudhākara, composed by Yaśodhara, son of Padmanābha.
Now I shall speak of the binding of the King of Mercury. (1)
Some of which I have experienced through the grace of the Gurus. (2)
Binding is said to be four-fold: Leech, Khoṭa stiffened, Pāṭaka split, and likewise, ash-binding is spoken of in the mercury scriptures. (2)
The cooked-binding is the Leech; the paste-pillar is the Khoṭaka. The fallen is the Parpaṭikā-binding; the ash-binding is like dust. (3)
Roots, jewels, gold, lead, and tin—these four are the causes of the binding of mercury. (4)
The root-binding is the best, the jewel-binding is medium. The metal-binding is inferior, and the putrid-binding is the most inferior. (5)
The fifth is the liquefaction-binding, which always creates body-iron. It should be known by the best physicians through the specialty of mica-liquefaction. (6)
I shall tell of the root-binding of mercury as it follows in sequence. Purified by the "demon-mouth" the process of creating a mouth for intake, the mercury is consumed with mica. (7)
Ground firmly with the extract of Iṅgudī roots. Then, taking it up, the wise should bind it with cloth. (8)
Steam it in fermented gruel for seven days. Cooking in the middle of grain should be done for a year. (9)
