The Binding of Gold-Essence (Hemadrutibandha)

Now, I shall explain the binding of the King of Mercury. (58)
Grind the gold-essence with the King of Mercury for seven days using the juice of jvalamukhi a specific medicinal plant, likely identified as Indian heliotrope. Afterwards, wash it with sour gruel (kanjika). (59)
Every day, wash it at night with the aforementioned juice, and during the day as well. Then, place it into a dark crucible. By applying mud and fabric, (60)
coat it seven times. Place the resulting ball into a pit in the earth that is twelve fingers wide and twelve fingers deep. (61)
The dimensions of this pit have been clearly stated in the teacher’s path. Then, apply a puta a heating process using a specific quantity of cow dung using cow dung cakes. (62)
In just twelve yamas a unit of time equal to three hours, the mercury binds by itself. Mercury bound with gold-essence confers the ability to transform the body and metal. (63)
It grants all perfections, brings prosperity, and destroys old age and poverty.

The Binding of Diamond-Essence (Vajradrutibandha)

The essence of diamonds belonging to the brahma caste is measured at one hundred thousand likely referring to the proportion of quality or potency required. (64)

1. The meaning is to grind it during the day with the aforementioned juice (jvalamukhi juice) and wash it at night with sour gruel (kanjika). Repeat this for seven days. "Jvalamukhi" is known in the Marathi language as "bharajambhul".

Take one tolaka a unit of weight, approx. 12 grams of purified mercury and grind it in gold-juice a solution or decoction containing gold essence. Grind it thoroughly until a paste (pishti) is formed. (65)
Prepare an even and pure crucible made of sun-stone (dahanopala). Place the paste inside, and add poison equal to the amount of the paste from a snake likely referring to a toxic mineral or serpent-related essence. (66)
Create a similar lid and seal the mouth with it. Place the auspicious crucible inside a bronze vessel. (67)
Place four vessels in the four cardinal directions. It is wonderful how, through the application of heat, the mercury attains binding. (68)
In the harsh heat of the sun for one yama three hours, it is the truth, and clearly stated by Shiva. Through the union with diamond-essence, mercury attains binding. (69)
Among all mercury-bindings, this is truly the best at all times.

The First Type of Metallic Binding (Dhatubandha)

This is the third type of metallic binding, which I have performed with my own hands. (70)
I shall explain it exactly as it is for the sake of the practitioner. Have thin leaves made of gold, like those of a birch tree. (71)
Take these, in the measure of one kola a small weight measurement, and one pala a unit of weight, approx. 48-64 grams of mercury. Grind them continuously for one day with lemon juice. (72)
Then, make a ball of it, place it in a potsherd, and set it upon a stove. Sprinkle it with grain-sour gruel (dhanyamla). (73)
The stabilization of the paste should be performed consistently for a period of three days. Then, steam it for seven days using the juice of dhurta also known as bhanga or hemp. (74)
White punarnava Boerhavia diffusa, tamarind, sahadevi Vernonia cinerea, and nilika Indigofera tinctoria. (75)
Likewise, dhurtavadhu a medicinal herb, often associated with hemp or similar plants, glory lily (langali), and suradalika. These have been declared by Nagarjuna a legendary alchemist and teacher and others as the best for binding mercury. (76)
Coat the mercury ball with the pastes and juices of these plants.
