The mercury should be purified by an expert in chemistry, and the sulfur original: "gandhaka" must be freed from various impurities. Place it into a new, clear iron crucible; let the essence-ash original: "amalasārarajaḥ" - pure mineral ash be released. (15)
When placed over a very low fire, it melts by itself. Afterward, place the mercury into it. Using a clean iron spoon, stir it for the duration of three prahara approximately nine hours. (16)
Then, place it into a glass vessel and cook it using the excellent sikatāyantra sand-bath apparatus. By applying fire beneath it for twenty yāma sixty hours, it becomes a red, best-quality ash. (17)

Fill the pit completely with juice extracted from ripe lemons. Seal it with an excellent earthen cover and seal it thoroughly with clay. (24)
Afterward, place the container inside a kaukkuṭapuṭa a heat treatment method using the equivalent of the heat of a hen according to the prescribed method. In this way, the expert physician performs the purification and incineration of sulfur. (25)
It becomes a tonic for the body, a builder of metal original: "lohakṛt" - implying it has the power to transform or strengthen the bodily humors, and it is the highest means for all accomplishments. When it is digested a hundred times over, the excellent mercury becomes a maker of gold. (26)

Fill the remainder with sand and apply a puṭa a heat treatment using cow-dung cakes. Apply fire for twenty yāma sixty hours. By this, the great mercury bundle is produced. (30)
Thus, I have described the mercury bundle, which is strength-giving, easy to prepare, and grants successful results.
The sulfur is equal to the purified mercury; then, grind them well together on a stone slab. (31)
