The Tilaka of Sharada

The wise know the organs of knowledge to be the ear, skin, eye, tongue, and nose. (34)

The objects of the organs of knowledge, such as sound, are remembered, as are the organs of action. The learned call them speech, hands, feet, the anus, and the genitals. (35)

Speech, grasping, movement, excretion, and pleasure are said to be the objects of the organs of action. The internal instrument of the self is described. (36)

The mind, intellect, ego, and consciousness original: "chitta" are mentioned. The ten senses, the elements, and the mind are the sixteen transformations. (37)

The wise of the principles know there are eight natures: the five elements, ego, the unmanifest, and the great principle; and they know there are seven transformations, including the subtle elements and the great principle itself original: "mahan" along with ego. (38)

The body is of the nature of fire and moon, and the vindu is of the nature of both. (39)

The right side is remembered as the sun, and the left side as the moon. The wise know of ten channels, of which three are declared the most important. (40)

Ida is on the left, Sushumna is in the center of the body, and Pingala is the other. Among these, the central one is of the nature of fire and moon. (41)

Gandhari, Hastijihva, Pusha, Alambusha, Yashasvini, Shankhini, and Kuhu are the seven channels. (42)

Countless channels arise from the five segments of the Sushumna. The vital breath original: "prana" rising from the Muladhara root base pervades the body through them. (43)

Ten airs and ten fires are spoken of here. The five winds, beginning with Prana, and Naga, Kurma, Dhananjaya, Krikara, and Devadatta are mentioned by these names. (44)

The ten fires are absorbed into the faults and tissues of the living being. (45)

Hunger and thirst are remembered as belonging to the vital breath and the mind. Grief and delusion, old age and death, are the six waves of the body. (46)

Skin, bone, marrow, semen, skin, flesh, and blood.
