Circular seal of the Research Department of Jammu & Kashmir State. The outer ring of the seal contains the text "THE RESEARCH DEPARTMENT JAMMU & KASHMIR STATE". The center features a coat of arms with two human figures as supporters on either side of a shield. Beneath the shield is a decorative scroll containing a motto in Devanagari script: "Where there is righteousness, there is victory" (Yato Dharmastato Jayaḥ).
