They both attain happiness and consider themselves to have accomplished their task.
All people follow the path I am going on, in sequence. 51
Without reflecting on the fruit, just as a blind man follows a blind man,
Enough of this wisdom; I shall go again to the ocean of compassion. 52
Having determined what is to be inquired into, I shall cross the ocean of doubt,
Relying on the boat of the Guru's words, I shall reach the auspicious shore. 53
Having decided this, the son of Jamadagni Parashurama, of pure intent,
Departed from that great mountain with a longing to see his Guru. 54
Having reached the great Gandhamadana mountain, he quickly saw
The Guru seated in a lotus posture, appearing like the sun on the earth. 55
He bowed down to the footstool like a staff on the ground,
And pressed the lotus feet with his head, supporting them with his own hands. 56
Then, seeing Rama Parashurama bowed down, Dattatreya, of pleasant mind,
Blessed him and raised him up with respect. 57
"Rise, my child, I see you have arrived after a long time.
Tell me your story, born of your own self, and free from distress." 58
Then, rising at the Guru's command, and having taken the seat offered by the Guru,
With a pleasant mind and folded hands, he said: 59
"O Holy Guru, Ocean of Compassion, bathed in the nectar of your grace..."
[Commentary]
51. The path that is unreflected upon, which they follow in sequence, I follow them. The reason is: "without reflecting on the fruit." Through wisdom—the certainty born of non-reflection. Having gone with this inquiry. The meaning is: as long as inquiry does not perish. Doubt is the ocean. The Guru's word is the boat; relying on that. 53-56. Born of self, born in the body, etc. 58-59.
