Sphæria scattered, subglobose, clay-colored, or yellowish-ash, with slightly prominent papillate having small nipple-like projections sphærulæ small spheres, substance somewhat soft and brownish. Synopsis of the method of fungi, p. 10.
It occurs rarely on dried trunks and branches, especially those of the ash tree, sometimes observed spread out.
TAB. III. (fig 1.) is presented in its natural size. To fig. 2. magnified by a lens; and to fig. 3 in diameter, where the sphærulæ small spheres can be seen as if forming the bark.
Receptacle of varied form. Capsules (sphérules small spheres) rounded: hollow in the state of dryness; filled in the state of humidity with a slimy juice that contains elongated seeds (sporules spores), visible under a magnifying glass.
Scattered, more or less globose, of a clay color, or yellowish-ash; capsules slightly prominent, ending in a papilla; substance soft, brownish internally.
It is encountered quite rarely on trunks and dried branches, mainly on those of the ash tree.
Its width is 3 lines approx. 6.35 mm; one finds it sometimes more or less flattened; its color varies.
