3. Sesia, sub-orbicular, smooth, entirely white, with narrow, flexuous, interconnected grooves.
Merulius Sesia, corky, white, not at all lobed. Scop. Fung. subterr. p. 101. t. 18. f. 1.
The subterranean species "seems to connect the Agarics with the Merulii, for it is pleated in the middle, but at the margin it emits gills rather than veins, both simple and branched." Scop.
4. serpens, effused, thin, confluent, wood-colored pale, with a villous covered in soft, hair-like fibers margin, and large, unequal, pore-like grooves. Fries Syst. p. 340.
Grows in Sweden. It creeps between the cracks of dead oak bark in elongated, seriate arranged in rows and confluent lines; it is thin at the margin and pubescent. l. c.
5. latissima, effused, thick, undulated, wood-colored pale, with sub-round and very long flexuous grooves. Fries l. c. †
On mossy trunks of beech (Fagus): extending from 5 inches to 2 feet in width, with the margin free here and there. Pores are initially absent, soon appearing as sparse, superficial dots, then becoming crowded and various. The substance is hard and woody, sub-zoned inside. Fr.
6. heteromorpha, sub-membranous, dully yellowish, with a whitish, byssine composed of delicate, thread-like filaments margin, and irregular, flexuous grooves. Fries l. c.
On pine trunks, in Sweden. Perhaps closest to the following. The grooves are long and oblique, but not pleated-toothed as in the Merulii. Fr.
