Differs from M. patula as M. deliciosa differs from M. esculenta, to which it is remarkably analogous, but besides the noted marks, it is abundantly different by its longer stipe (3-4 inches); ½ inch thick, equal, with a short (one-inch) pileus, more conical and acute, with ribs anastomosing here and there, which, however, depends on the shape of the pileus. Color is entirely that of M. deliciosa, stipe white, pileus yellowish, dirty tawny when dry. In grassy field edges, in spring. (seen alive)

9. M. Gigas, with conical pileus, margin detached, somewhat undulated, ribs anastomosing into elongated cells, and a squamulose stipe.

Large, almost half a foot long, evidently analogous to M. elata. Stipe hollow, over an inch thick, "leucophaeus" grayish-brown, thickened at the base. Pileus almost 3 inches high, somewhat obscure, with somewhat undulated ribs. In Italy in sandy places and near damp ditches. March-May. (seen in illustration)

10. M. rimosipes, with conical, obtuse pileus, base somewhat detached, rhomboidal areolae, and an irregularly cracked stipe.

Entirely 6 inches high. Stipe hollow, thick, whitish, substance almost waxy; irregularly excavated with longitudinal cracks, almost like Helvella mitra. Pileus subconical, base slightly detached, reddish inclining to brown. De Candolle cited the previous one with hesitation. In France at Fontainebleau.

11. M. undosa, with campanulate bell-shaped and crisp pileus, base detached, oblique undulated areolae, and a sulcate-tessellated grooved and checkered like tiles stipe.
