However, I also kept thinking that if a text regarding practice is in a state of 'being difficult to obtain for many even to hear of', then its publication would be meaningless. I also had doubts about the authenticity of the book.
During the Haridwar Mahakumbh, many scholars, practitioners, heads of Shakti Peethas seats of divine feminine power, and ascetic scholars advised me to meet Swami Kashikananda ji, the supreme scholar of the ascetic world and a worshipper of Goddess Sri. They said that if he considers this text authentic, then it is undoubtedly authentic, even if it is not mentioned elsewhere.
I met the revered Swami Sri Kashikananda ji at the Surat Giri Bungalow. He examined the book and declared it authentic and traditional. He also advised me to publish it.
With the support of these practitioners and scholars, I gained encouragement. I began the work of editing (determining the correct form of the seed-letters, revisions, etc.). Through constant study, I realized that the combination of the seeds in 'Tantra Durga Saptashati' has been done very scientifically. For example, the seed-letters for verses starting with 'The Rishi said', 'The King said', 'The Merchant said', 'Markandeya said', 'The Goddess said', and 'The Devas said' are almost identical everywhere, such as 'Shraum', 'Raum', 'Vaim', 'Shreem', 'Hreem', and 'Hasaum'.
In a few exceptional places where this was not the case, these seeds were found nearby, either before or after those verses, and it was necessary to place them in their proper locations. In some places, the position of the seed mantras becomes correct only by revising the number of verses in the currently prevalent 'Durga Saptashati'. I have made such revisions, and for this, I have also found authentic evidence. Clearly, there are sufficient differences in the texts and verse numbers in the editions published by Gita Press and other printed or handwritten copies. I possess such copies.
In the context of studying and contemplating the seed mantras of 'Tantra Durga Saptashati', I also felt the need to review our ancient literature, especially the 'Upanishadic literature'.
