He has supported the Tantras by saying so. The mantras for the consecration of idols original: "pran-pratishtha" in temples are strictly Tantric in nature.
According to the principle of "becoming the Divine to worship the Divine" original: "devo bhutva devan yajet", the practitioner engages in worship and performs self-purification through various rituals original: "nyasas", among which the Matrika-nyasa ritual placement of letters on the body, Bahishchakra-nyasa external cycle placement, Antashchakra-nyasa internal cycle placement, Srishti-nyasa creation placement, Sthiti-nyasa maintenance placement, Samhara-nyasa dissolution placement, Shodha-nyasa six-fold placement, and Mahashodha-nyasa great six-fold placement are primary. Similarly, there is a protocol for the consecration of ritual items through the arrangement of vessels original: "patrasadan".
After consecrating the ritual vessels—the Vardhani-kalasha growth vessel, Samanyarghya general offering vessel, Vishesharghya special offering vessel, Gurupatra guru's vessel, and Atmapatra self vessel—one sequentially performs internal worship original: "antaryag", meditation on the chosen deity, invocation, the sixty-four offerings, covering rituals original: "avaran-puja", mantra repetition, and recitation of hymns. Subsequently, the hymns are recited along with the seed syllables original: "bijaksharas". The recitation of hymns can be performed both plainly and with seed syllables.
Dr. Ramchandra Puri has performed a service to the practitioners of Tantra by meticulously researching and publishing the seed-syllable form of the Durga Saptashati, its traditional स्वरूप form as practiced among devotees and known only through the guru's mouth, and other rare and confidential topics of Tantric worship. For this, he is worthy of blessings.
It is our heartfelt wish that practitioners may be encouraged and empowered with spiritual energy through the publication of this volume.
