to the desired end. However, if these initial steps appeared stable in their progress, I would note much regarding him with great glory.

¶ Francesco, Marquess of Mantua, will be considered strenuous and strong in arms with honor, but let him fear the danger of death by sword, fire, a blow, or another similar violent event. He will likewise be threatened by enemies and enmity with a great prince or commander. Therefore, let him use prudence in these matters, as dangers can be avoided by using foresight.

¶ Regarding the princes of the sect of Muhammad original: "Maumet".

¶ Bayezid II, Ottoman Emperor original: "Baiacit Octomanus" of the Turks, Greeks, and Asians, will appear to have kingdoms and powers of great impiety. However, he will labor under a certain disturbing plague and a cruel sickness to the danger of death. The Turkish peoples will take up arms with the greatest conflict, fortitude, and impetus, the fury of which certain Christians will feel. Bayezid, however, being healthy, will send armies from here towards Italy, and by passing through, although slowly, many of them must then lose their lives. Yet they will inflict great disasters upon the Christians and our own blood. These events will extend beyond this year, although the beginning of these things occurs in this year; for in many places it was necessary to perform deeds by merely providing the beginnings, as this year would be incomplete with an imperfect sense if they could not be written, whence they pass through the year fully integrated. However, Bayezid himself will suffer as the men among the Turks themselves will roll in fury and cruelty, and the lands of the Turks will tremble under the din of arms.

¶ Qaitbay original: "Lait Bei", the Circassian Sultan of Egypt, will have great wars and attacks of arms in his kingdoms. He, too, must fear above all things that an end may be imposed upon his seat by death, for he will fall into this trap and danger again in the parts of the King of Egypt. In Syria, Judea, and Arabia, there will be whirlwinds of wars, disasters, and great dissensions among those potentates, with the slaughter of many, beyond other scourges of diseases. This kingdom, too, will be invaded by enemies and certain confederates with great slaughter.

¶ Mulei Zachari original: "Mule zachari", King of Tunis and Barbary, being established in great snares, fear, and dread of kingdoms on account of his great enemies, will make many confederations with African kings and princes. And Mulei Sac original: "Mule Sac", King of Fez original: "fesse", will be in the same fear and greater danger. Wherefore they will make confederations, and in these the Great Arab original: "zi gmar Magnus Arabs" will be present, along with many other leaders of the Arabs.
