...will be constant for us, sometimes warm, sometimes cold, but it will excite more humidity. From this, it will bring forth multiple diseases for us. Hence that saying of Hippocrates: "Changes of the seasons especially generate diseases, and in the hours there are great changes either of heat or cold, and others according to the reason of the situation." This, Aristotle also asserts in his Problems, and Avicenna repeats in the second [book] of the first. Summer, whose beginning is declared to us upon the completed day of June, being in need of water, will beget most vehement heats. Autumn, whose beginning emerges on the 4th day of September, struggles against us with cold: it will also bring rain, not without frequent gusts of wind. Hence it will be troublesome to women and others who are naturally humid. Winter, whose beginning starts on the first day of December, threatens us with more humidity than cold. Yet I would wish readers to be warned in this place to look into the reasons for these seasons and to examine them diligently, lest that which belongs to spring be ascribed to summer, or that which belongs to autumn be not considered winter.
The best and greatest God created two most clear lights of the world, the Sun and the Moon, by whose arbitration human affairs are mostly disposed and governed. Yet who does not know that Phoebus is the most glorious of all the stars, the governor of the sky, and the maker of time? Hence that saying of Maro Virgil in the first book of the Georgics: "The Sun will give you signs; who would dare call the Sun false? He often warns that secret tumults are imminent, and that treachery and hidden wars are swelling. The Sun also, when it rises and when it hides itself in the waves, will give signs; most certain signs follow the Sun," and the rest. Therefore, we will predict future events from the aforementioned defect of the Sun, not entirely discarding the astrology of this year's forecast. Yet, verifying the authorities of Ptolemy and Haly Rodoan in that which is inscribed as the Tetrabiblos four books, we shall observe these four things in the prophecy of this eclipse of Phoebus. First, the regions, places, and cities in which the effect will be manifested most. Therefore, we affirm that this very influx, by reason of the eclipsed place, will be more sought after in Persia, Britain, Germany, Poland, Naples, Viterbo, Florence, Faenza, Imola, Piacenza, Vicenza, and Bergamo. However, with respect to the place preceding the eclipse, in Portugal, Ireland, Venice, Alexandria, and Lomellina. Truly, by reason of the ascending sign, in Scythia, Cyprus...
