On the state of certain cities. Chapter twelve.

Even if universal things, which are eternal, are only to be considered by astrologers, just as Ptolemy left written in the monuments of his Centiloquium. We, however, will make mention of some cities in this place, so that the desire of those who are eager for new things may be satisfied. Let us say, therefore, that Rome, Ravenna, Adria, and Cremona will labor beyond measure with insults, quarrels, enmities, miseries, and frauds. For Leo, established in a gloomy and calamitous place, is contaminated by the trigon of Mars. But good gods, what inconveniences, what dangers do I see the most opulent empire of the Venetians suffering and being vexed because of the corner closer to the eclipse. Yet this one thing I constantly affirm: the Venetians themselves will expend incredible money this year. Saturn, retrograde, who has obtained the sign in the house of substance, threatens them with this, being offended and vexed by the rays of the planets. The Florentines will attempt wondrous things, and after many labors and miseries, they will recover their lost fame and dignity. For Venus, the governess of the Etruscans, not contaminated by any poisonous rays at the hour of the eclipse, and established in the house of substance in Libra, illuminating happily and luckily, promises and pledges this to them. The Genoese, Paduans, Riminese, and Bari residents will occupy themselves negligently with the worship of the gods this year, and will be vexed with certain troubles and calamities for the sake of certain religious figures. Naples, Viterbo, Faenza, Vicenza, Bergamo, and Piacenza will be disturbed by many inconveniences and will be affected by perilous diseases. The Sienese, Bolognese, Anconitans, and Veronese will enjoy leisure and joy, and will diligently give their efforts to the sacred rites of the gods. Reggio, Trent, Vercelli, and Augusta Taurinorum Turin will be tormented by most hot diseases and will be disturbed by fires in houses. The Parmesans, Aretines, Imolese, and Cesenates will be burdened with many detriments and will be agitated by pestiferous diseases. The Ferrarese, Forlivese, and Modenese will be disturbed by the frequent death of their sons and will be affected by certain calamities. The Milanese and Firmani will study in buildings and will labor in rustic works. The Paviastans, Pisans, and Urbinates will labor with various diseases and will be troubled by many expenses.
