of the eclipse in their rising, or in their construction, have had these in the ascendant or in these [places] the Sun or the angles of birth or of the revolution of the years according to the significance of each angle, and especially to those who have had the Tail of the Dragon or the Part of Fortune in the said eclipse places, or to those whose places of the year’s completion have arrived at them.

¶ From the eclipse of the Moon, however, which occurred in the month of February, since it is evil, it brings harm to those in the first quarter of the year who have the 9th degree of Virgo in the places exposed above, especially if they have that part of Virgo in the angle of birth or of the revolution of the years. And the eclipse signifies drought with some mixture of cold. And the completion of the conjunction that preceded the deluge of Noah arrived this year at Virgo, and similarly the conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter which was in 1454 arrived at the 23rd degree of Virgo. That which was in the year of the Sun, however, previously, indicates also drought, of which we shall speak in its own place.

¶ But beyond these things which we have already said, that which disturbs me more and is more to be pondered is that the Moon, lady of the great cycle, is unfortunate in many ways. First, through this eclipse which we have said. Second, because Saturn looks upon her with a square aspect. Third, because of the bad place in the sky in which she runs. For the place of the sky rules the stars. Besides these, Leo is a sign of the great cycle and is unfortunate by the aspect of Mars from the opposite, and by the trine of Saturn, all of which signify movements, and indeed great ones, in places and men subject to Leo and its triplicity. These things, therefore, which have been said by me generally and as if universally, because the prophecy of this present year and perhaps the following depends most on these, are to be better declared.

¶ Mercury in this year’s revolution is the lord of the ascendant and the significator of the commoners, because it is in the house of Mars and combusted by the Sun; it proceeds to the dominion of Mars, especially since it is retrograde, nor can Saturn be the lord of the year because it is at the beginning of its retrogradation, and
