...after Ptolemy in his book of wisdom, the Almagest The Great Treatise. A wise man will rule over the stars, for he will govern the stars who can hinder the visage aspect/appearance and influence of the stars, as a wise, sensible man. For this same Ptolemy says: A good star-gazer may flee much evil that is to meet him through the influence of the stars if he knows the nature of the stars, even though it is difficult to do. One may, however, adapt oneself to it. Master Hali tells this example: When we know that a sickness is coming from the nature of Mars, being warm and dry, then the physician may counteract the influence and may change it to cold and moisture. And since the matter is thus arranged, I shall write a practica prognostication for this future year, according to the teaching and prophecy of the masters of the stars, how the upper bodies incline toward us with their influence. May the almighty God help us to pass through this year happily and wish us a peace-filled, blessed new year.

The second: of the choice of the lord of this year.
The third: of war and peace.
The fourth: of sickness and mortality.
The fifth: of the fruits of this year.
The sixth: of all estates of the world.
The seventh: of the planets in the figure.
The eighth: of the twelve signs.
The ninth: of the four seasons of this year.
The tenth: of the full quarters and new moons of this year.
