Hymn X, Line 22. When I was writing the note to this verse, I did not recall Proclus, who used the word stream original Greek: ῥύμα, derived from to flow original Greek: ῥύω, and treated the first syllable as short in his first Hymn, line 4:

original Greek: ὑψόθεν ἁρμονίης ῥύμα πλύσιον ἐξοχετεύων

This word is omitted in the dictionaries, just like newly-drawn original Greek: νεόῤῥυτος, which is derived from the verb to draw original Greek: ῥύω, and consequently has a long penultimate syllable. Aeschylus uses that word in Agamemnon, line 1362, a passage which the commentators misunderstand. Hermann is engaging in high-level linguistic detective work here, distinguishing between two Greek verbs that look identical—rhuo meaning "to flow" and rhuo meaning "to draw"—based on how poets fit them into the rhythm of a line.
