The opponent sees me point at the throat and thrusts at my knee or foot; I use a high lift to counter them.
The opponent sees me lift the staff, so their staff rises to cut at my hands; I follow the force of their movement, hook and hang, advance by moving to the outside of the circle, and use a hard lean to strike their hands.
The opponent sees my staff striking high at their hands; they strike low at my knee or foot; I use the root of the staff to lift their leading hand.
