Of the monk Euthymius :-

A program of this book of dogmas;
Alexios' care and sweet labor;
Of the New Rome Constantinople ruling piously;
And the radiant shining of virtues;
A commonwealth-benefiting constitution, the strength of faith;
A pillar triumphing over spurious words;
A gathering of Orthodoxy that puts to shame;
A refutation, shaming and confounding,
Those who are apostates from the true faith;
A divine instrument of the successful combatants;
Averting the secret sounds of dogmas;
Of hated and people-deceiving gods;
A clear spring of strong dogmas;
A river itself of venerable dogmas;
Wholly flooding and dragging down;
Of the evil-believing, their profane heresies;
A terrible quiver of dogma-killing arrows;
A weaving and a sling of syllogisms;
By God's light, a torch to the foreigners;
A trumpet terrifying the opponents;
A panoply fencing in those who use it;
Slaughtering the blind ones everywhere;
But O, three-light unity, and Trinity again;
One light flashing forth from the God-rule;
Guard the sun of the palaces;
The artificer of such great power;
