From the most accurate translation of SIGISMUND GELENIUS,
and others,
Partly edited and illustrated by ADRIANUS TURNERUS Adrianus Turnebus, Royal Professor, from the library of the Most Christian King, partly by DAVID HOESCHELIUS from Augsburg.
To this newest edition have been added Various readings and a most elegant booklet by the same Philo,
ON THE SEVEN original: "DE SEPTENARIO", and fragments ON THE PROVIDENCE OF GOD original: "DE PROVIDENTIA DEI",
With a most copious index of matters.
A detailed engraving features Minerva (Athena) and Hercules (Heracles). Minerva sits on the left wearing a Corinthian helmet, holding a spear, her hand resting on a globe. Hercules stands on the right, wearing the Nemean lion's skin and holding his club; a serpent lies at his feet. They appear to be joining hands. In the background to the left, a sphinx sits on a plinth and a winged Pegasus flies toward a mountain. A banner at the top of the scene contains the motto: "Utility has joined, labor and industry preserve."
